Chennai · For Indian applicants targeting global programmes
Chennai sends more engineers to top global MBA programmes than almost any other Indian metro. That is both an advantage and a problem. Pegasus Global Consultants guides Chennai applicants through the specific positioning challenges that come with being one of 180 IIT-M or Anna University graduates in a given year. 13 years of practice, 7000+ applicants guided, roughly 18 percent of our 2025 client base from Chennai.

Most of them were in the top 10 percent at Anna University. Most of them have a 730 GMAT and a self-initiated NGO project in their resume. A generic SoP reads like every other Chennai application.
The Chennai applicant who gets in writes a story that could not be written by the person one seat over. For IT services engineers, that usually means a specific client engagement, a specific technology transition, a specific operational win. For BFSI applicants from Chennai, it is usually a specific product or a specific market entry. For the manufacturing and automotive applicants, it is a specific process redesign with named numbers.
We have worked with applicants from this city long enough to know where the story usually sits. Our role is to help you find it, not to hand you a template.
Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, HCL, Wipro. Usually 3 to 6 years of experience. The largest segment of our Chennai client base. Targeting HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, Ross, or INSEAD.
Zoho, Freshworks, Chargebee, Dmat. Younger profiles with deeper technical depth. Often split between MBA and Masters in Management or MS programmes.
HSBC, Standard Chartered, Deloitte Chennai, EY. Typically target Columbia, Chicago Booth, LBS, INSEAD for finance or strategy roles.
Hyundai, Ford, Ashok Leyland, TVS. Strong operations and supply chain stories. Sloan, Ross, Tepper, and IIM A one-year programmes.
Chartered Accountants from Loyola, Madras Christian, or SRCC equivalents. Younger finance applicants. LBS MIM, HEC MIM, ESSEC, or LBS MFin.
Applicants who applied once without help, got waitlisted or rejected, and want a second attempt done correctly. Roughly 15 percent of our Chennai client base.
Aggregated across the last three admissions cycles. Real admits, pseudonymised at the applicant level. Programme-level aggregate is defensible and public-adjacent.
Month 1
We assess your academic record, work experience, extracurricular story, and goals. You walk away with an honest read on which programme tier fits and which to drop.
Month 2 to 3
We settle on 6 to 10 target schools, calibrated to your profile strength. For Chennai IT services applicants, this usually includes a mix of HBS-tier stretches, Kellogg or Ross-tier targets, and a safety in the ISB or INSEAD range.
Month 3 to 5
The core of the work. Three drafts minimum per school. Gauri personally reviews the final draft of your top 5 target schools. No junior associate shortcuts.
Month 5 to 6
We polish the resume to the specific format each school expects. We coach your recommenders so the letters land right. We review every application before you hit submit.
Month 6 to 8
School-specific mocks with our Chennai applicant question bank. We know what HBS, Wharton, and ISB actually ask applicants from engineering backgrounds in Chennai.
Month 8 to 10
Scholarship negotiation support. Offer comparisons. We stay with you until you accept.
Our Chennai client base leans heavily toward engineering graduates from IIT Madras, Anna University, SSN College of Engineering, VIT Vellore, SRM Institute, and NIT Tiruchirappalli. We also work with a steady base of CAs who studied at Loyola, SRCC, or Madras Christian College, and working professionals from Cognizant, Zoho, Freshworks, and TCS Chennai.
Both. Roughly 55 percent of our Chennai applicants target US MBAs (HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, Booth, Ross), 25 percent go for European one-year MBAs (INSEAD, LBS, HEC), and 20 percent pursue Master in Management programmes at LBS MIM, HEC, ESSEC, and ESCP. The balance shifts year to year with rupee-dollar rates and US visa policy.
The consultant-applicant relationship runs fully over video. We use Google Meet or Zoom for weekly calls, shared Google Docs for SoP iteration, WhatsApp for quick questions. Roughly 80 percent of our 2025 client base was outside Delhi NCR. Physical location does not change outcomes. What matters is how often your consultant reviews your drafts and whether they push back on weak thinking. That does not require an office in your city.
The class median GMAT at HBS, Stanford, and Wharton sits between 730 and 740 as of the 2026 entering class. Indian male engineer applicants should realistically target 740+ to be competitive because the Indian engineer pool is over-represented. A 720 is not a barrier if the rest of the profile is exceptional, but it makes the SoP and interviews carry more weight.
Start between March and June 2026 for Round 1 of September and October 2026. Applicants who begin earlier get two full months of school research and profile polishing before they need to commit to an SoP draft. Applicants who start in July or August compress SoP work into 6 to 8 weeks, which shows in the final essay quality.
